"(...) porque creo en la pintura, creo en la autonomía absoluta de la pintura y en su pureza. La pintura es lo suficientemente autónoma como para expresarse por sí misma. No creo que deba acompañar mi obra con palabras que intenten explicar lo que quiero mostrar con ella. No quiero limitar las posibilidades expresivas de mi obra ni condicionar la libertad emocional del espectador. Quiero, necesito y me gusta que la obra pertenezca plenamente al ser humano que la contempla. Por ello deberíamos tener en cuenta que la crítica del arte constituye un género en sí mismo que se dedica a materializar por medio del lenguaje escrito una visión plenamente subjetiva del asunto. Nunca deberíamos verla como un complemento indispensable del arte.
Dejémonos llevar, permitamos que el último reducto para el misticismo (el de las emociones ininteligibles, el del arte, el de la belleza) sobreviva y olvidémonos por un instante de los automatismos racionales que nos impulsan a diseccionarlo absolutamente todo."

“(…) because I believe in painting, I believe in the absolute self-sufficiency of painting and its pureness. Painting is freewheeling enough so as to express for itself. I do not believe I should label my work with words intended to explain what I want to show with it. I do not want to confine the expressive possibilities of my work nor determine the spectator’s emotional freedom. I want, need and like the work to belong fully in the contemplating human being. Thus we should take into account that Art Criticism constitutes a genre of its own which devotes to materialize in words an entirely subjective view of the matter in hand. We should never see it as an indispensable complement of Art.

Let us go with the flow, allow the last redoubt for mysticism (that of the unintelligible emotions, of Art, of beauty) to survive and let us forget about the rational automatisms driving us to dissect absolutely everything.”
